Border Crossing Info

A few tips for going international.

Whitefish is just across the border from Canada. Whether you're visiting from Canada or wanting to extend your trip into Canada, crossing the border is relatively easy if you've got the right materials.

The closest border crossing into British Columbia is on US 93 in Roosville, approximately 60 miles to the north of Whitefish. It has 24-hour service all year round. Note that not all border crossing are open 24 hours. Be sure to confirm the hours of your intended crossing point. When crossing the Canadian border from Montana, you’ll need a current passport. If you are traveling with children, they will also need a passport. If crossing the border with minor children and only one parent is accompanying, you should have a note of permission from the other parent for the children to cross the border. Certain purchases made in Canada have restrictions, so make sure you ask any questions for easy crossing back to the US. Be aware that speed limits are posted in kilometers. Smile and enjoy your international trip!
