Big Mountain Nordic Trails

23 k of challenging terrain with beautiful scenery

New at the Big Mountain Nordic Trails for 2017 - 2018 season, Glacier Nordic Club and the Whitefish Legacy Partners joined forces for a new, dedicated, 30-40 car parking lot, trailhead and access trail. The 23 k of skiing is snowmobile groomed daily, conditions permitting, by the Glacier Nordic Club (11k) and Iron Horse Golf Club (12k) and accesses some of the most spectacular skiing in Montana. Also new for this year GNC and IHGC have combined to produce a joint map and Iron Horse has added an additional 3k of grooming. A map and trail reports are at

The new trailhead is at 3315 Big Mountain Road. This is the only public parking access. After leaving the 1 k access trail and old growth cedar trees, skiers can either head up Big Mountain for some steep and challenging trails or drop down into Haskill Basin for some more moderate (but still not flat!) terrain.
