A Top Ski Town in the World
Major magazines like National Geographic Adventure have included Whitefish in the Best Ski Towns in the World. Check out what Aaron Teasdale, an award-winning writer and photographer from Missoula, said about Whitefish.
“Just what makes a classic ski town? It starts, naturally, with skiing and snowboarding so good they attract people like youth-bestowing fountains. Then add an inviting mountain burg steeped in ski heritage, amenities and culture.”
Whitefish was noted as best for families and groups with different skiing abilities and having “ample pockets of steep and deep terrain.”
“Whitefish Mountain Resort looms invitingly above the bars and restaurants of the Western-style downtown, which is anchored by Whitefish’s historic train station."
“Whitefish lives up to its family-friendly billing with good first-timer terrain and an abundance of long, wide-open, roller coaster groomers where skiers and snowboarders of all abilities can get their superhero on.”
Teasdale also noted The Hibernation House at Whitefish Mountain Resort for being among the most affordable on-mountain lodges in the nation, while The Lodge at Whitefish Lake was called one of the nicest place to stay.
The Buffalo Cafe in downtown Whitefish got commendations for “Best Eats” along with Tupelo Grille for a nice evening meal. After-ski party spot honors went to the Bierstube on the mountain.
